DeChávarri, the dream of two sisters

walking together in the distance.

United by the same dream

Separated by very different life projects, different cities, opposing careers and professions, and antagonistic temperaments, they are united by a dream that represents the values of their small family, together with their parents.

Curra

“The reason that listens to the heart”.

A vocation beyond medicine.

Curra has been dedicated to anesthesiology and resuscitation for 25 years, with a special focus on plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. Her scientific mind and her human sensitivity have allowed her to accompany hundreds of women in decisive moments of their lives.

The invisible bond between women.

Over the years, she has shared her practice with women of all kinds: mothers, daughters, friends, professionals… In that intimate space, just before surgery, fears, desires, doubts and dreams flourish. Curra listens, welcomes and cares. And they trust, giving what is most valuable: their lives.

A look of solidarity.

Since 2018, Curra travels every year to Cameroon with the COEM organization, where she collaborates as an anesthesiologist. There, in addition to helping, she learns about the dignity, strength and humanity of those who have the least. A transformative experience that also inspires her new adventure with DeChavarri, from where she seeks to continue contributing.

Cristina

“Entrepreneurial mind and dreamy spirit.”

Rigor and entrepreneurial vocation.

Cristina has a degree in Economics and is an expert in quality management, an approach she has applied in all her projects. After holding positions of responsibility in recruitment and human resources in large companies, she decided to put her energy into her own company, linked to the world of children’s fashion.

Own style and business sensibility.

A tireless worker, she combines talent, firmness and a special attention to detail. She has the rare ability to balance character and exquisiteness, imprinting each initiative with a solid and elegant identity.

Elegance that leaves its mark.

In addition to her experience in management and quality, Cristina adds to DeChavarri her personal taste and aesthetic look, which do not leave you indifferent. Her style is part of the soul of the brand: natural, sophisticated and deeply authentic.

Our philosophy

Dreaming to fly

DeChávarri combines the character and philosophy of its creators: Cristina’s innate elegance, simple and harmonious, with a rock and transgressive touch, and Curra’s creative and courageous impulse.

“We decided to create our briefcase-bag to spread our wings and fly...”

A space to be and breathe.

DeChavarri was born as a fragment of the feminine universe: a place to simply be, exist and learn along the way, without labels. From experience, it is recognized that the greatest desire of every woman is freedom: freedom to live, create and decide her destiny.

To create is also to care.

That freedom is conquered with dignified work, with commitment. Therefore, the desire was to give shape to an object that would represent that impulse to go out into the world every day to fight for our dreams and for the welfare of those we love. Because yes: we women also take care of the world.

An emblem of freedom.

The classic briefcase seemed alien to us: rigid, masculine, soulless. And since the DeChavarri woman never renounces her essence, we reinterpreted this object and turned it into something new: an elegant, functional, feminine bag. A declaration of freedom in the form of an accessory.

Inspiration

By Curra

“I knew that that vision would accompany me for the rest of my life, and that every woman can be her own winged victory, majestic at the top of a staircase, powerful in her solitude, imposing in her sensuality and victorious in her freedom.”
We were very young when we traveled to Paris in the early 1990s. That city, new to us, dazzled us. But it was at the Louvre that something unforgettable happened: as I climbed the Daru staircase, the Victory of Samothrace appeared before me, imposing, firm and beautiful.
That instant took my breath away. I saw represented in marble a powerful woman, with her belly as the center of her universe, faceless, as a symbol of all women. Her open wings were also a cry for freedom.
Thirty years later, the sculpture is still alive in me. I understood that life would be like that staircase: full of stumbles, but also full of determination. That figure taught me that women do have wings and that each one can be her own victory.

DeChavarri in solidarity

The beginning of everything

“I knew I had to give her more than a project, more than a bag made on paper, more than numbers and a list of ideas.”

“Yes, I would give meaning to the project and she would put soul into the bags.”

An alliance born in difficult times.

During the pandemic, the director of the factory that manufactures our bags called the first collection “the pandemic collection”. That gesture, full of humanity, revealed from the beginning the connection between two committed, courageous and sensitive women to the times we were living in.
From the beginning, we knew that this project had to have a soul. That’s why we also shared the idea of collaborating with an organization that operates in Cameroon, not only through donations, but also by integrating their fabrics in our designs. A humble but real way to be present there and support their local economy.
While one lived the pandemic from the hospital as an anesthesiologist and the other from her factory in crisis, the project was put on hold. But it was not extinguished. Because even in the midst of the chaos, hope remained alive. And DeChavarri was also born of that strength: the belief that life – in the end – always prevails.
