laura-velazquez-arjona-dechavarri-txt-2

Graduate in Medicine and Surgery, specializing in Family and Community Medicine, Master’s Degree in Emergency Medicine.

After years of working in hospital emergency departments, Laura began with team management, which prompted her to continue her training, completing the Executive Master in management of Healthcare Organizations (EMDOS) at ESADE and Georgetown University, and later holding management positions in a private hospital in Madrid, where she had to deal with the Covid 19 pandemic.

Laura has been our ship in the middle of the worst unimaginable storm, while she fought the same battle as the rest of the healthcare workers, she also built a ship where we could all be welcomed, not only staff, but also patients… and she did not let the ship sink no matter how strong the waves were, how strong the wind, how tired to exhaustion, how discouraged, how afraid… and she did it discreetly and with dignity, like everything else in her life. Even more, with a smile, a hug, your great kindness towards everyone, your steely determination but also your gentleness, your availability at any time, any day, your absolute dedication above all else to the work that had been entrusted to you and you did it with astonishing efficiency but also giving us all your most human side.

You left a part of yourself in the hospital, the mark of a leader but also the heart of a courageous, honorable, and beautiful woman.

There are no thanks in the world enough for you, there is nothing to match my admiration and gratitude, I only hope that I can be part of the crew of your ship today and always, because I know that your ship is always afloat.

“My two great passions since I was a child have been medicine and horses. I am a doctor, as was my grandfather Jesus Velazquez, whom I have admired and loved since I can remember and from whom I learned that a doctor must train throughout his life. I remember him every day of my life. Since I was a child, I have had a special connection with horses and the most important thing is that thanks to them, I found the love of my life, my partner, friend and father of my children Gonzalo Aboin.”
